Airsoft guns, while somewhat similar to traditional BB guns, come in all different shapes, sizes, and styles, from the most inexpensive handgun to intricately detailed, near exact replicas of real weapons. Unlike BB guns, however, airsoft guns shoot plastic pellets at a speed that is typically much slower than the speed at which a BB shoots from a BB gun, therefore, with the proper precautions, an airsoft weapon is usually safer than a BB gun.
In addition to target practice, organized training, and tactical “war” games, airsoft participants often collect airsoft weapons. The guns are also very popular among military enthusiasts and other weapons collectors around the world.
If you’re a beginner, you’ll most likely want to start with an inexpensive weapon, until you gain the skill, experience, and knowledge to choose a weapon (or weapons) more suitable to your personal use and style.
